It's been a fairly slow night, only a few isolated stumblers. I decided to get Bob and Terri over here and take shots from the balcony, at least the elevation gave us a bit of an advantage. Flaming arrows seem to do the trick, if aimed right. Took extra long arrow shafting, garden sticks basically, cut rudimentary nocks into them, wrapped a bit of fabric on the end, dipped them in anything under the sink that was labeled "flammable," lit 'em and watched 'em burn. If you get them right in the neck their whole head catches on fire. They try to put it out, when that doesn't work, they try to "remove" the burning area. Due to their "undead" nature, they rip their heads off. It's disgusting, but you can't help but watch.

I haven't seen one in a bit over an hour, hopefully they're clear of the neighborhood for the night. We're going to take turns sleeping.

I looked out the window of my 11th floor office today and wondered what the hell was going on. The 405 was empty and there were all kinds of helicopters in the air. Looking out over Marina del Rey it seemed like there was a mass exodus. Boats of all sizes were leaving the harbor, one after another.

If only I could have checked LJ at work! All this started after I was already settled into my desk, oblivious of the happenings outside the office. The thing is...the other side of the building looks out over a cemetery. Why didn't they come tell us? Surely something would have tipped them off?

Luckily for me, I had already decided to take a slightly different route home so I could make a stop at the store. On my way, I passed a military surplus store. They were shuttered, but I caught a glimpse of a barrel of a gun sticking out the window. I pulled into the lot next door and slowly approached the front of the building, wondering what the hell was going on. A large man wearing cammo came outside holding a large semi-automatic. He dragged me into the store before I could ask what was going on.

He told me the zombies were loose. They hadn't been this way yet, but it was only a matter of time. I told him I couldn't stay, I had to get home and make sure everyone else was safe and get myself locked up and secured. Before leaving, I took everything he would let me and piled it into my car.

I made my way home and into the garage, didn't see anything unusual, they must have headed east. At least I hope they've headed east. At this time, I'm locked in my room. They'll have to take the idiot roommate before they take me, but I'm all up for an excuse for justifiable homicide in that case anyway.

Before it gets dark, I'm packing up all the weaponry and heading to Bob's. He's got over 2,000 arrows and a couple guns. Hopefully he remembered to buy ammo.
